HOW WE MET: A COMEDY OF ERRORS

Rob was working at the Social Security Administration, and Kayla was the new fitness center instructor. One evening, after a long day, Kayla found herself lost in the building because after 7 p.m., all but one exit is locked. Spotting Rob in the hallway, she asked if he could show her the way out.

The time? 6:57 p.m.

Rob, clearly in a hurry, glanced at his watch and blurted, “I gotta go!”—then ran off, leaving Kayla to navigate the maze alone.

The next time they crossed paths, Kayla playfully called him out for abandoning her, joking that she had been wandering the halls like a lost soul. Feeling guilty, Rob made up for it by waiting until exactly 7 p.m. that evening and personally walking her out.

That one walk turned into another. And another. Soon, every time Rob stopped by the gym, they’d walk out together, lingering in the parking lot, talking for hours like teenagers who didn’t want to say goodnight.

Then, one evening, after weeks of their little routine, Rob turned to Kayla and asked, “Are you single?”

She nodded yes.

“Do you wanna be?”
